WHO WE ARE

Pamoja Zanzibar is a locally based and operated NGO that is dedicated to the service and empowerment of the Zanzibari people of Unguja and Pemba islands. Our goal is to empower Zanzibaris, regardless of age, race, religion, or economic status, to better their lives by providing them various educational opportunities. Delivering high-quality services to our customers enables us to pursue this goal.

We run a Sewing School on Unguja and a Computer Lab on Pemba. We prepare our students to receive certifications from the Vocational Training Center of Zanzibar (VTA certificates)

OUR PROJECTS

Tailoring School

Pamoja Zanzibar offers training for women in tailoring and sewing, in cooperation with the Vocational Training Authority Zanzibar. The course duration is two years part-time (Mondays – Fridays from 8am – 12pm). Our highly skilled and motivated teachers, together with a modern classroom and sewing machines for practicing, provide our students with all they need for their future profession as tailors.

Computer Courses

In partnership with the Ministry of Education in Zanzibar we designed a special computer course for teachers to help them do their work more efficiently. During our course they learn how to better craft examination papers with MS Word, how to calculate students’ grades in MS Excel, how to create and present a PowerPoint presentation, and how to use the internet and send and receive emails.

Building Classes

Two buildings with a total of eight classrooms and sanitary facilities were built thanks to donations from Germany. In 2022 the primary school was presented to the PAMOJA ZANZIBAR to act an interface. Around 1,900 students were spread across 16 classrooms, each with over 100 children. We was able to furnish about half of the rooms thanks to the good work of CHEM CHEM carpentry in Nungwi.
